From the article: Signs of Ovulation

There are many ovulation signs you can look out for when trying to time sex for pregnancy. Some people prefer tracking their basal body temperature, while others prefer to use ovulation predictor kits. Some women watch their cervical mucus changes, and some women don’t officially track anything beyond their mood for sex (which is an ovulation sign itself!)

Which ovulation sign do you prefer to track? Have you changed your method of tracking ovulation over time? Or do you ignore ovulation signs, and just have sex any ol' time when trying to get pregnant? Share your experiences below on tracking ovulation signs!

ovulation signs

Body temp., the white discharge, and counting the 10 to 11th day after menstruation.

Sex drive

when I'm ovulating I notice a significant increase in my sex drive and it feels like it is atributed to the change in cervical fluid.I feel naturally lubricated!

Cervical Mucus and Ovulation Kit

When trying to get pregnant with my first, I had been on the pill for many years and was surprised by the changes in cervical mucus when I finally started ovulating again. Definitely something to remember for number two! I also had very positive results from the OPK.

OPKs and BBTs

Before moving on to advanced techniques, we used ovulation predictor kits and basal body temps. Our schedules are so crazy, so we needed to know when the best time would be so that we could set aside some quality time!

Increased Libido

I can always tell I'm ovulating because I'm in the mood. It happens right about the 14th day of my cycle, every time.

Every Other Day

I think that having sex every other day makes it pretty much impossible to miss out on taking advantage of ovulation. It also makes for a happier marriage, in my humble opinion. A happier marriage means less stress...

Being in "the mood"

I know when I'm ovulating because I usually have some right- or left-sided abdominal pain, followed by increased mucus production, and increased libido. :) It's pretty clear to me when something's going on. Even so, I have been using ovulation kits to track my hormone surges, just as an added sanity check.

Ovulation Kit

For me, the ovulation kit did the trick. Twice! When I am ready to tackle number three, I would definitely use this method.

EWCM

It's my biggest tell-tale sign. It amazes me that most women don't even notice this obvious sign. (Not that all women have it, but most do!)

Cervical Mucus

Honestly, I just check cervical mucus and keep an eye on the calendar. I've found that I'm predictable enough that charting BBT adds more stress than information; my c.m. is a pretty reliable indicator, and is the most convenient, too!

I don't look for any

We just have sex every other day all month! I don't bother to check for ovulation signs, too much worry. And anyway, my hubby and I are really into each other.. it's no bother to do it every other day all month! (Except for during my period, obviously!)

From BBT charting to cervical mucus/mood

I used to be an obsessive BBT charter. I never missed a day, and it did help me track ovulation, especially on months when ovulation came very, very late. However, over time, I got tired of BBT charting. So now, I mainly track my sexual mood and my cervical mucus changes. When I notice cervical mucus that looks fertile, and I'm feeling in the mood for sex, I start taking my temp... this way, I can tell if I'm before ovulation or not yet (I've been doing it long enough that I can tell!). We also baby dance the entire time. Then, I temp until I see the temp shift to indicate ovulation. We keep on baby-dancing until my mood for sex goes down... which interestingly always happens two or three days past ovulation! The body is amazing... !!
