How Long Have You Been Blogging

Since 2006

Where Are You on Your Trying to Conceive Journey

We have just started our second IVF cycle, after a failed cycle last year.

Why Did You Start Your Blog?

I started my blog in 2006 to try to understand my relationship with my mother (a sufferer of Huntington's Disease and other mental health issues). My husband and I have since discovered that I too carry the gene for Huntington's and we started to explore PGD [pre-implantation genetic diagnosis] IVF as a way of carrying a healthy baby. I started my blog really as a vent for my feelings of frustration around the situation with my mother but it has now become a way of meeting new people in a similar situation and helping others to understand that they are not alone in their situation.

Tell Us More About Your Blog

Over the years, I have written about different things - my experiences with mother, having the HD test, coping with the results, our experiences of IVF, book reviews, relevant news stories... We are about to start our second cycle of IVF so I currently blog about how we have found the build up to it, starting the drugs etc. I try to be as honest and as open as I can be and provide details of my thoughts, experiences and feelings as we go through this period of our lives.
