Definition:

Non-cancerous tumors containing fibrous tissue. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that grow from the muscle layers of the uterus. They can cause infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. Many women have no symptoms, but others may experience pelvic pain, infertility, heavy menstruation, pelvic pressure, or problems with urination or bowel movements.
