Endometrioma

Definition:

Special kind of cyst that appears on the ovary, filled with old blood. They are also known as “chocolate cysts” because the fluid inside resembles melted chocolate. These cysts may cause pelvic pain, block the egg and sperm from meeting, or interfere with ovulation. They are caused by endometriosis.
