I Need Help Getting Pregnant. What Can I Do?

When you first started out trying to conceive, you probably assumed it'd happen quickly and easily. Most of us believe this, partially because people rarely talk about problems with infertility and partially because we spent our adolescences being told that if we just look at a boy (or girl), we could get pregnant. So when we try to get pregnant for a number of months, and nothing happens, it can be quite a shock.

The most common email I receive says something like, "I can't get pregnant. What should I do now?" The first step is to speak to your doctor, of course, but that's not a good enough answer. I don't know about you, but I hate embarking on any kind of project or journey if I don't have at least some idea of where I'm going.

I put this comprehensive article together to answer this question for you. Not every person's experience and journey with infertility is the same, but it does usually follow a general trajectory. I hope you find it helpful!

When you realized you were having trouble conceiving, what was the first thing you did? Did you have any idea of what to expect next? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
