Coping with Clomid Side Effects

I think most people wonder about the potential side effects of a drug before they take it, so it shouldn’t be surprising that many women ask about Clomid side effects on infertility message boards. Usually, I see one of two kinds of questions: either they are asking about other people’s experiences before they take the drug, or they are experiencing a side effect and wonder if it’s normal or common.

For example, on twitter a few days ago, I read a message from a woman who was wondering if moodiness was common while taking Clomid. (It is.) She found herself getting close to tears more often than usual, and wondered if the Clomid could be behind it. She went online to search for other people’s experiences, and felt relieved to know she wasn’t alone.

If you look at the drug information sheet that comes with most medications, you’ll find a list of potential side effects. (Just in case you never noticed before.) Still, it helps in coping with infertility to talk to others about your experiences during treatment. Our fertility forum is a good place to find support and people who understand.

That said, if you are concerned with the way a medication is making you feel, you should call your doctor. Online communities are good places to find emotional support, but they should not be a place where you seek out actual medical advice.
